Big Dance Day – Monday 1 May 2006

Big Dance Day has been funded by the Joint Investment Fund for the Arts - a partnership between local authorities across Hampshire, Southampton, Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight and Arts Council England, South East

Hampshire Dance worked in partnership with local authorities across Hampshire, Portsmouth , Southampton and the Isle of Wight to plan and deliver a high-profile celebration of dance in 2006.

The event was supported by the Joint Investment Fund for the Arts.

Big Dance Day celebrated the sheer diversity of dance happening throughout Hampshire, encouraging people of every age to join in and enjoy a fun and healthy activity. Schools took part in Big Dance Day for Schools on Tuesday 2 May 2006 .

Alongside Big Dance Day we have created an online collection of information about dance in Hampshire and Isle of Wight called Dance Data. Groups and individuals who are offering anything connected with dance are now able to create and access their own entry on a searchable database.
