Ludus Workshop in Hampshire

Hampshire Dance helps to bring dancers and dance companies into schools. We do this in various ways ranging from offering advice on an appropriate artist to teach a one-off workshop, right through to organising and finding the funding for a major residency for a group of schools.

Hampshire Dance has hosted Ludus Dance Company residencies three times over the past seven years. These have taken place in Portsmouth, Gosport, Fareham and most recently in Southampton, and have focussed on social issues. They have involved series of workshops for young people and performances of the company’s work. The residencies have been positive and rewarding for young people, teachers and leaders, in both participating in workshops and viewing the company’s performances.

In 2007 Hampshire Dance commissioned Ludus Dance Company’s touring production, ‘Trapped’ with the support of Creative Partnerships - Southampton and Isle of Wight. Based around themes of emotional literacy,‘Trapped’ was designed to enhance the teaching and delivery of the PSHE and Citizenship curriculum in schools from Key Stages 2 to 4.
