HYDC Dancers impress Dragons…

Three members of Hampshire Youth Dance Company took part in Sports Leaders UK’s Leaders for Life conference in Crawley on 25 November and walked away with a £100 prize!

Ollie Gratton, Kiri Golding and Jess Montgomery pitched their idea for a community dance event that culminates in a flash mob dance performance to a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style panel and won the award for the best Sports Leaders UK centre project or initiative. The panel included managers from the Co-operative Community Fund, who might help them make their event a reality.

Hampshire Dance’s Youth Dance Strategy Manager, Sophie Amstell attended the event:
“Ollie, Jess and Kiri’s presentation was very impressive and I am sure their dance training helped them articulate their ideas in a confident way. They were much deserved winners and it was refreshing to see dance triumph in a sports context!”
