EKANATYAM dancers selected
14th December 2010

Talented young dancers from across the region have been selected to join Hampshire Dance’s pilot regional South Asian youth dance company, EKANATYAM.
Following auditions held last month in partnership with Art Asia and the Indian Community Centre, Reading, twelve young dancers from Hampshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire have been chosen. Additional dancers are being selected in Slough this week.
The company will be coming together in the spring to work with artistic director Mayuri Boonham to create EKANATYAM’s first dance work. Mayuri, who is currently touring nationally with her new professional company ATMA, is widely known and respected for her role as joint Artistic Director and Choreographer of Angika Dance Company.
EKANATYAM’s eagerly awaited premiere performance will be on 20 March 2011 at U.Dance South East at Frensham Heights Performing Arts Centre, Surrey.
