Community dance class

Hampshire Dance once again ran its highly successful Community Dance Leaders Course in Autumn 2007. Supported by Creative Partnerships - Southampton and Isle of Wight, the course aimed to give an all round understanding of dance in the community and the skills that are required to deliver in this setting. It was full of both relevant and useful information embedded within both practical and theoretical sessions.

What did it involve?

The course included units on:

  • How to prepare and manage a community project
  • Inspiration for creative learning
  • An injection of tried and tested workshop ideas for working with a wide range of community groups
  • How to incorporate safe practice, integrated learning, equal opportunities and child protection policies into your work

There was a session presented by Creative Partnerships exploring working in schools, partnerships and across curriculums.

The whole course provided a great opportunity to network and learn from other dance leaders, shared good practice and identified what is happening across Hampshire and the South East and how participants could can best get involved.

Hampshire Dance hope to run a further course in autumn/winter 2009.
