Introduction to Contact Improvisation and Partner Work

Thursday 29 April 2010
10am - 3.45pm
Wildern School, Hedge End

Led by Helen Parlor

This course will give participants a basic understanding of the creative potential of contact and partner work, including safe practice. It will examine the dynamics of different partnering, using dance to communicate themes and characterisation. Time will be given for participants to work creatively to develop movement ideas.

Participants will also have a unique opportunity to see a short performance, Full Circle, which provides the stimulus for the creative work. Full Circle will demonstrate highly physical movement, combining contemporary and contact dance forms to create intricate and challenging duet work.

Full Circle is directed and performed by Helen Parlor, who danced with Motionhouse for six years, touring in Atomic, Fearless, Volatile and Perfect. She is joined by Chris Bradley.
