Hip Hop

Aimed at KS3 the day will cover key aspects of hip hop culture, history, the context of where the movement originated and how it has developed over time.

There will be opportunity to discuss the aesthetic and artistic qualities within hip hop dance.
Practical sessions will involve learning foundation hip hop and street dance techniques such as ‘poppin, breakin and house’. This INSET will be essential for those teachers delivering the Exploring Urban Dance Styles module, part of Level 1 B-Tec dance course. Resources will be provided with the course

GCSE Professional Works

Led by Lyn Paine

As Chair of Examiners for AQA GCSE Dance, Lyn has been closely involved in the development of the new specification and is co-author of the new Nelson Thornes GCSE Dance book for students. Lyn is an experienced trainer of primary and secondary teachers. She is also a Local Authority School Inspector in Dorset.

This one-day course will support you in developing the choreographic skills of your GCSE dance students. Using starting points and motifs from different prescribed professional works and other stimuli it will look at planning for progression. A range of options/focus areas and professional works will be offered and attendees can customise the day to meet their needs.

Please note: Demand for similar courses in the past has been very high and we would recommend booking at the earliest opportunity. There are only limited places available and all places will be on a first come basis.

Cost for either course: DASH members £90, Other schools £110, freelance dance artists £35
