Fundraising for Dance

A One-Day Training Course
Including a handbook published by Youth Dance England and Foundation for Community Dance

In this time of austerity the ability to secure funding from a wide range of sources is crucial. Originally devised by Youth Dance England, this course has been updated and refreshed by Dance Up for 2013. 

The training course aims to give you the skills to take advantage of a range of funding opportunities by developing effective funding applications.  It will be delivered by Hannah Osmond, an experienced freelance arts manager and fundraiser. 
The day will focus on:

  • Getting to know your project
  • Writing a fundraising application
  • Understanding funders

Who is it for?
The event is appropriate for freelance practitioners, youth workers, recent graduates and final year degree students. Although the course focusses on dance, the skills gained are applicable to any artform.

Managing a Successful Youth Dance Company Training

The accompanying guide book is full of case studies and useful tips from company directors, giving you an insight into good practice, policy and procedures, plus help in identifying strengths and weaknesses.

About DASH

Hampshire Dance supports secondary dance teachers from Hampshire, Portsmouth and Southampton schools in partnership with DASH (Dance Association for Schools in Hampshire). The association was developed in partnership with Hampshire Inspection & Advisory Service.

Termly DASH meetings provide an opportunity for teachers to network and share good practice. Schools affiliated to DASH can attend Hampshire Dance INSET courses at a reduced price. To join DASH please complete an affiliation form.

Dance Training and Accreditation Partnership

Dance Training & Accreditation Partnership (DTAP) is a major, dance sector-led strategic initiative, and brings together a consortium of national organisations. You can find out more by visiting the DTAP website: www.dtap.org.uk

DTAP has recently developed a new qualification, The Diploma in Dance Teaching and Learning (Children and Young People). The new qualification has successfully gained accreditation from the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority and is now available to the dance sector through the international examinations board Trinity College London.
