NoCo

NoCo is one of the most innovative street and hip hop youth companies in the south east region.

The company rehearses weekly and during October and February half-terms in Basingstoke.

Vikkie Steege of T21 Dance is the rehearsal director for NoCo and has been working with the group since September 2006.

Each year the company works with one or two professional guest choreographers. Previously commissioned artists include top hip hop based artists Kofi Mingo, Kenrick Sandy, Jake Nwogu, Hakeem Onibudo & Irven Lewis.

NoCo have performed at Breakin’ Convention, National Youth Dance Festival and many other local and regional dance platforms.

This year, NoCo have worked with Tony Adigun (Artistic Director of Avant Garde Dance Company) and Simeon Qsyea (choreographer for JLS and featured on BBC's 'So You Think You Can Dance?'.

They also starred in a short conceptual dance film, BOXBEAT, produced by CASS Productions:

NoCo in Performance

This video shows NoCo performing Universal Mind Control at The Point, Eastleigh in the Hothouse 2009 dance platform. The piece was choreographed by Paradigmz and Vikkie Steege. It is based on the idea of the body being controlled by an outer force. The piece focuses on various popping techniques including tutting and boogaloo as well as waving.
