What is U.Dance?
U.Dance is the national programme which aims to give every child and young person in England the opportunity to take part in a dance performance each year.
The U.Dance programme, led by Youth Dance England, will create dance performance opportunities across the country, at local, county, regional and national levels to offer access to dance for children and young people in and outside of schools. It is an ambitious programme that builds on the excellent work that already exists and strives to stimulate new performances where there are few at present.
You can find out more by visiting the U.Dance website.
How can I get involved?
If you run a dance performance anywhere in the south east, or are planning to do so, you can register your event with U.Dance free of charge. You will receive a free resource pack along with support in promoting your event through the U.Dance on-line national calendar.

U.Dance South East
U.Dance South East took place on Sunday 21 February 2010 at Brighton Dome Corn Exchange.
This regional youth dance platform showcased the very best youth dance work being created in the south east of England. Youth dance companies from across the region took part in a series of workshops and an evening performance.
U.Dance South East was one of nine regional youth dance platforms to take place across the country this spring.
Hampshire Dance received applications from 23 youth dance groups to take part in U.Dance South East.
A specialist panel of dance experts, including a young person, selected the following nine groups:
- Anjali Youth Dance Company (Oxfordshire)
- Brighton and Hove Youth Dance Company
- Cult Dance Company (Hampshire)
- Fuzzy Logic Dance Company (Hampshire)
- LoopEd Senior Youth Dance Company (Medway)
- Morph Dance Company (East Sussex)
- NoCo (Hampshire)
- T21 Collective (south east)
- Wycombe Swan Youth Dance (Buckinghamshire)
U.Dance South East was presented by Hampshire Dance in partnership with South East Dance and Brighton Dome and with the support of Youth Dance England and The Big Lottery Fund (through the chances4change programme.)
U.Dance England
U.Dance England (previously known as the National Youth Dance Festival) is a national youth dance performance event run by Youth Dance England on a bi-annual basis. U.Dance England 2010 took place in Birmingham from 1 to 4 July.
Fuzzy Logic Dance Company from Hampshire and Anjali Youth Dance Company from Oxfordshire were selected to represent the south east region. This means that the south east was one of only a small number of regions to have two groups represented at this major national event.
Hampshire Dance has recently carried out an extensive mapping survey to identify current performance opportunities for young people in the south east. This will enable us to invest in parts of the region where there is currently little performance provision.
If you are a dance professional and you’d like access to our mapping data please contact Hampshire Dance.
